Moving from SQL Server 2000 to 2005
Presented By Tom Pizzato
SQL Server 2005 was a significant upgrade over SQL Server 2000. This session will discuss what’s different as well as how to move from your SQL Server 2000 environment into a SQL Server 2005 environment. We’ll spend most of this session on the relational engine. We will talk about migrating Analysis Services and Reporting Services at a higher level. The session Upgrading your DTS packages to SQL Server Integration Services will cover moving from DTS to SSIS.
Upgrading Your DTS Packages to SQL Server Integration Services
Presented By Tom Pizzato
SQL Server 2005 introduced a new tool for Extraction, Transformation, and Loading of data called SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). SSIS is a replacement for the DTS in SQL Server 2000. There are some specific areas you need to pay attention to with this migration. This session will discuss what SSIS is and explain how to move from your old DTS environment into the new SSIS environment. We’ll also talk about what is an easy migration and what requires a rewrite.
SQL Server 2005 Backup Strategies
Presented By Brad McGehee
One of the most fundamental skills SQL Server DBAs and developers must master is how to perform database backups. In this introductory session, attendees will learn about SQL Server 2005 backup options, techniques, strategies, and best practices.
Integrating SQL Server Reporting Services with Custom Apps
Presented By Bret Updegraff
Bret will be showing us examples of how to integrate Reporting Services into your web and windows applications. You will learn how security plays a role in managing RS with your applications.
He will also cover ‘real world’ examples of how to seamlessly add reporting functionality to applications through the use of charts, spreadsheets, and more.
Table Partitioning
Presented By Trent Mera
Trent Mera will be presenting on the Table Partitioning feature that is available for SQL Server 2005. By partitioning tables you can improve the performance and manageability of large databases.
An overview of the concepts that define table portioning along with design, implementation and management considerations that are involved with effectively utilizing this feature will be highlighted.
